Shawn Anchor: The Happy Secret to Better Work – 21 Days of Happy

Oh mamma – I’m motivated. I love when I feel this way.  Scratch that, I A-D-O-R-E when I feel this way.  Today I watched aTED talk which came to me via my friend Alyssa Bronander.   Alyssa sent me this video of Shawn Anchor last week in an email where she was also sending me birthday wishes.  A double whammy of good Karma.  She wrote

“at TRU HQ (that’s Toys “R” US to you lay people) we have a  thought leadership series on Friday afternoons, which usually consist of TED videos and some conversation, and today’s was called, “Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work” so I made sure I attended.  It is only 12 minutes, and totally up your ally so I thought I would share  some great stuff in there!  Enjoy! And happy birthday!”

I’m inspired.  Heck, not only am I inspired, I’m excited to change my behavior. Take 12 minutes to watch the video, then come back and read the rest of this post … It will make more sense.

I love changing my behavior for the better.  There’s nothing more empowering than knowing you have control over the way you see the world, and how you react to the things happening around you.  So in reaction to this video, I’m challenging myself to do a few things that Shawn Achor discusses. So I can re-wire my brain.  Maybe it’s because I just turned 37, but I’m thinking a good re-wire may be just what the doctor ordered.

So…for the next 21 days – for each day I’m committed to:

  • Writing down 3 new things that I’m grateful for each day
  • Journaling about one positive experience I’ve had over the past 24 hrs (maybe I’ll even post a few here)
  • I will send a positive email to praise or support someone in my social or business circle every day.

Separately:

  • I’ll exercise each day
  • I’ll mediate each day

I’ve done things that are really bad for me 21 days in a row. Why not try someone really good for a change? I’ll call it my 21 days of happy. Join me?
This should be a fun experience.  Maybe we should all do this?

Over and out.

Who’s the Coach?

I’m Chris Dessi.

Tech entrepreneur. Author. Talking head.
But before any of that—I’m a builder.

I’ve spent the last 20+ years helping companies grow:
From dot-com chaos to SaaS scale-ups to AI-powered everything.
I’ve sold software across continents. Closed $32M in deals using AI.
Built and exited businesses. Bombed a few too. All of it made me sharper.

Today, I run Torque AI, a marketing automation platform built for the 99%.
Small business owners. Solopreneurs. Operators with too much to do and not enough support.
We give them AI superpowers—without the hype, the jargon, or the BS.

I’m also the founder of AI Summit NYC, where real business owners come to learn how to actually use AI to drive revenue.

When I’m not building, I’m writing books, speaking on national TV, and coaching execs through reinvention—with a baseball bat in one hand and a meditation app in the other.

I believe reinvention is our greatest asset.
I believe AI isn’t the threat—it’s the test.
And I believe if you’re not adapting, you’re eroding.

Let’s build something that matters.
