Want to Be Successful? Get Angry

We’re human, every single one of us. We feel happy, and sometimes we feel smart. Other times we feel stupid. We enjoy feeling loved. We cringe when we feel hated. We all get angry for sure. Some handle it better than others. Sometimes in my life I’ve been quick to anger.

I’m a Loser

I’m a loser. Really, I am. I’ve had my ass kicked so many times I’ve stopped counting. I’ve been fired more times than I care to remember. Three times in less than two years in fact. I have scars. Deep ugly jagged cuts that at times have left me bleeding on the ground. That’s precisely why I win in business. It’s also exactly why my company performs 10X better than our competition. Because I’ve had my ass kicked I do things differently.

4 Lessons Derek Jeter Taught Me About Leadership

On July 9th, 2011 my father Adrian Dessi threw out the first pitch to start a Yankee game. You can see Dad seated in this photo (LtoR Derek Jeter, Adrian Dessi, Mark Dessi, Chris Dessi, Pat Dessi). This fact is certainly significant. However, it gains further significance when you understand that on that same day, Yankee great Derek Jeter hit his 3,000th-career hit.

College Students: Four Easy Steps to Clean Up Your Facebook Page Before the Big Interview

I’m usually pretty liberal with the conent that I allow on Facebook – this is mostly because I’m a 37 year old married father of two, not a 21 year old about to graduate from College. The most scandelous photos that I’m tagged in usually involved baby vomit, not me vomiting at a frat party. However, when a photo popped up of my brother and I after having thrown back a few at a Villanova homecoming weekend (circa 1993?) It dawned on me that some photos that upcoming College graduates have on their current Facebook pages may not be as appropriate as others, and perhaps it was worth taking a closer look. So I started to poke around and found something really refreshing: Facebook is making it easier for us to curate our content. In this instance “curating” is just nice way of saying – delete all of the pics you don’t want your future boss to see. Phew! Here are three easy steps to help you curate away:

Gratitude, Spirit & Social Media

The past two weeks have been nothing short of magical. It all started with Hurricane Sandy, and culminated in the most pure and beautiful moment of my life, save the birth of my two children.

Baby Steps

I’m not a runner – but I’m training for the New York City Marathon. I’m doing
it to raise moneyand awareness for a horrible disease that my father is living with called ALS(Lou Gehrig’s disease). I’ve been training since the first week in July. I started slowly. Only 3 miles on the first day. Concluding the first week with 16 miles under my belt (it hurt). Last week I completed 43 miles of training (I felt great)

‘Ted’ Punch Line is Offensive to Those Living with Lou Gherig’s Disease (ALS)

Today I read something that has me troubled. According to an article penned by Katie Moisse of ABC News –
A punch line from the movie “Ted” has people with Lou Gehrig’s disease crying foul.

“From one man to another, I hope you get Lou Gehrig’s disease,” says Mark Wahlberg’s “John” — a quip some patients say crossed a line.
